According to this recent article, ( http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/16/americas/puerto-rico-superfund-water/index.html) by CNN Puerto Rico residents are tapping into water that does not currently meet the EPA safe water act guidelines and in some cases they are actually drinking water from contaminated sites that contain heavy metals. One complete solution although you need electricity but if you have it or have a generator to run a PURA UV system you can both filter and disinfect the water coming into your home or building. Add an undersink RO system, ( Reverse Osmosis Systems) and you will also be taking out additional contaminants including, (metal ions ) sodium, chloride, copper, chromium, lead, arsenic, fluoride, radium, sulfate, calcium, magnesium, potassium, nitrate, and phosphorous.
PURA UV
The UV BigBoy™ Series is the most versatile commercial ultraviolet disinfection system on the market today. This 15 to 60 GPM series is manufactured with versatility in mind, and is virtually unlimited in the possible filter configurations and manifold sequences. The series is designed with the same traditional style that Pura® has made an industry standard – worldwide. One advantage of the UV BigBoy™ Series is the convenient manifold mounting rack. The rack can be used to configure up to four UV chambers in parallel or in series. This allows the user to achieve either a higher UV dosage or higher flow rate (up to 60 GPM). This mounting rack configuration provides easaccess for cleaning and maintenance to the individual units without the need to shut down the entire water distribution line. The standard LED lamp monitor provides a visual verification the lamp is in operation. The UV BigBoy™ Series, with its capacity, versatility and cost, is the world’s most flexible, complete water disinfection system in its class.

There are ten interchangeable filters with a variety of treatment options that can be tailored to local water conditions, so your water is the best it can be. The innovative QC twist and lock design makes service simple. Twist off the old cartridge and twist on the new. No messy sump removal. Aqua Flo Platinum HP systems make drinking water better and life easier.
- Choice of a 50 gpd or 75 gpd membrane
- Standard Lead Free Air Gap Faucet
- Color coded tubing for easier installation
- Quick connect fittings and a self piercing feed valve
- Interchangeable filters allows the system to be customized to your local water conditions
- Produces high quality water for better tasting coffee, tea, juices, soups, sauces and pasta and clearer ice cubes
- System includes a sediment pre-filter, carbon block pre-filter, RO membrane and carbon block postfilter
The first stage of filtration is the sediment filter, which reduces suspended particles such as dirt, dust, and rust. The second stage of filtration is the carbon filter. This filter reduces volatile organic chemicals (VOCs), chlorine, and other compounds that might impact the taste or odor of the tap water. Chlorine should be removed from the water before the water enters the membrane. This will help preserve the life of the membrane. The center and third stage of a reverse osmosis system is the semi-permeable (RO) membrane. It is responsible for rejecting up to 98% of the total dissolved solids in the water.
